Hearing & Vision Screenings

Service to Mankind. It's more than just how we got our name; it's been our foundation for over 100 years. Sertomans across the country are unified with a single purpose: serve our communities and improve the lives of those who need help. Our mission and our passion is to improve the quality of life for those at risk or impacted by hearing loss through education and support.

working with our local schools

Since 1984 we have partnered with our local schools and provided volunteers from our club to assist with Hearing & Vision Screenings. For the first 2 to 3 years we only offered hearing screenings, and then added volunteers when the schools asked our club to help with the vision screenings as well. We started with the Brainerd School District and have expanded to include other area public and private schools. Screenings take place each Fall, typically from mid-September through the end of October. We screen the "odd" grades each year so students are screened every other year consistently through 9th grade. On average, our club invests a total of 300 volunteer hours each year.
